For example, if School is saved as a Favorite Place:

The alert is based on crossing the zone rather than someone manually opening the app and sending an “I arrived” message.

How Do OtoZen Place Alerts Work?

OtoZen Place Alerts use a saved Favorite Place and an adjustable radius around it.

There are four important details to understand:

1. Arriving means entering the zone. The notification can trigger when your Connection crosses into the radius around the saved place.
2. Leaving means exiting the zone. The notification can trigger when your Connection crosses out of the radius.
3. The radius is adjustable. A smaller radius makes the alert more focused around the location. A larger radius creates a wider alert area.
4. Driving is not required. Arriving and Leaving Place Alerts can work when your Connection crosses the selected zone whether they are driving or not.

OtoZen displays the radius in feet in the United States and meters in other countries.

Another useful detail is easy to miss: Place Alert notifications appear in your phone’s Notification Center. They are not stored inside OtoZen’s own Notification Center.

Place Alerts vs. Nearby vs. ETA vs. Live Location

How to Set Up a Place Alert in OtoZen

First, save the location as a Favorite Place. Then choose the Connection, open the Place Notification settings, and select the alert radius that matches the location.

Step 1: Add the Place

1. Open the OtoZen app.
2. Go to the Location screen.
3. Tap the Add Place icon at the bottom of the Family list view.
4. Choose a category such as Home, Work, School, or Activity, and set the location.

Step 2: Configure the Notification

1. Go to your Connection’s profile.
2. Tap Notify Me.
3. Under Place Notifications, tap the notification icon beside the location you want to configure.
4. On the Set Up Place Notifications screen, find the radius slider under the map.
5. Move the slider to adjust the arrive or leave distance.

A smaller radius triggers the notification closer to the saved location. A larger radius creates a wider alert area.

• Confirm that your Connection is still sharing the required location information with you.

• Make sure your phone’s system Do Not Disturb settings are not blocking notifications.
• Check that the saved place and its radius match the area where you expect the alert to trigger.
• Make sure OtoZen has the location access required for its background location and Place Alert features.
